Tour the Newburyport Coast Guard station as part of Yankee Homecoming

The Coast Guard Station in Newburyport stands as a testament to over 100 years of service to the opening of the Merrimack River and the coastal regions from the North Shore to Portsmouth, NH. All are invited for a special tour of the facility and get a close-up look at the inner workings of this very busy station.

Halibut Point State Park invites families to join them on a tide pool adventure! Halibut Point contains some of the best tide pools in New England. Join the Interpreter for a trip down to the rocky shore for some inter-tidal exploration. Learn about these interesting creatures living in a unique transitional environment. Meet at the Visitors Center in the park. For all ages. Rain or shine, pouring rain cancels.

 

Volunteers are needed at Long Hill and Sedgewick Gardens in Beverly!

The Trustees of Reservations need your help to prepare and plant Long Hill and Sedgwick Gardens's Pick-Your-Own Flower Fields. Help us “Push the Petals” from our plants! We need your help to prepare the growing rows, plant and maintain Long Hill's Pick-Your-Own Flower Fields. We have a range of projects available for all abilities, from seeding, planting and weeding, to deadheading. Choose to come on Mondays in the summer to help cut many blooming stems to go to the Beverly Farmer’s Market or help cover shifts for the public picking of the flowers in the summer or just show up on any Thursday. There are many opportunities for many volunteers. Dig in and have fun with a great group of fellow volunteers!

Newburyport Yankee Homecoming Kid's Day in the Park activities include decorated bicycle and doll carriage parades. The Parade will be from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Children’s activities include children’s games, music, face painting and much more. Food will be available.

As part of the Lowell Summer Music Series, a special series of kids performances takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Activities include make-and-take art at 10 a.m., a performance at 11 a.m., and National Trolley Park rides at noon.

Nine New England artists have taken a close look at the huge collection of vintage and antique toys and other artifacts at the museum and have been inspired to create bright, brilliant, and sometimes very funny new art! Kids and adults will be inspired to make their own art right in the gallery and climb into a life–size version of a toy that inspired the art.

Trident Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings, collages, and monotypes on paper by Ruth Mordecai. The gallery will host a public reception for the artist on Saturday, August 9, 5–7pm.  The artist will be at Trident Gallery for conversation Saturday, August 2, 5–7pm, and will lead a discussion of her work on Sunday, August 17, 5–6pm.

The 24th Annual High street Mile includes categories for kids races!

The Winner’s Circle Running Club’s 24th Annual Newburyport High Street Mile will start at Atkinson Common. This is a fast, flat USATF certified straight line course (USATF certification MA07009JK). Separate start times based on age division and sex. Proceeds benefit the River Rivals (Amesbury, Newburyport, Pentucket, Triton) XC and T&F programs.

 

Proceeds from the Sho' Nuf Southern BBQ go to North Shroe Veterans in need.

Come support our veterans in need and see bluegrass band E.C. and the Moonshiners, led by renowned fiddler Ellen Carlson, perform at a Southern style barbeque! This family fun afternoon offers ribs or chicken plus all the Southern barbecue fixings for adults and hot dogs for children.

Summers are a blast at Eurostoves! 2014 is our 11th summer series for kids and teens providing extraordinary learning experience for your budding chefs. All new menus for 2014!

Our summer kids classes run Monday through Friday (with the exception of July 4th) from 10AM-1PM. You can sign up for one or two classes, the whole week, or several weeks (the themes are designed for a week). There are four weeks with a different themes and feature completely new menus for 2014. Whether you want to bake, explore the world, learn the basics or cook foods inspired from your favorite books we have a great line up for the summer hours.

Our summer program is designed for ages 8 and up. We have cooked with thousands of children and find that when combining the teens and kids it lends an opportunity for leadership teaching skills from some teens to engage the younger kids in cooking. It is a win-win for all involved. Often we have many of these teens end up working in the field or actually at Eurostoves!!
