Woods will speak at Glen Urquhart School on October 16 at 8:30 a.m. in the first of a new series of forums and workshop’s sponsored by the school’s Parent’s Association, entitled “Creating Calm in Family Life.” Woods is the author of Men in the Head®, a common sense approach to child advocacy and family life. She has over 20 years of experience in business strategy, leadership coaching and management consulting and she is the mother of two children, one with sensory and learning issues.

Dads & Donuts At Sawyer Free

Calling all dads! Bring your kids to Sawyer Free Library for a Saturday morning

This is a great opportunity for dads (uncles, grandfathers, cousins or other father figures) to spend time with their kids! Come to the Sawyer Free with the kids for a storytime filled with songs, stories,snacks and fun!  Great for kids aged 2-6 (siblings are welcome). Moms and siblings welcome to attend.

Ipswich Celebrates Ed and Barbara Emberley

Come meet author/Illustrator Ed Emberley at the Ipswich Public Library!

During April school vacation week the Ipswich Public library will celebrate hometown author/illustrator Ed Emberley with a variety of programs including events on Wednesday, April 23, and Saturday, April 26.

On Saturday, April 26, the Ipswich Library will host a special family event - Ipswich Celebrates Ed Emberley. Hands-on exhibits will be set up for step-by-step drawing, fingerprint art and an Ed Emberley apps for the iPad. Mr. and Mrs. Emberley will be available to chat and to sign guest’s personal copies of their favorite titles. Children are invited to bring their Ed Emberley drawing book creations to show the artist.

Emberley is best known for his children's book work - particularly instructional drawing books. Emberley believes that everyone can learn to draw. His drawing books for children feature clear step-by-step instructions employing numbers, letters, and shapes graded to the early elementary school level. Mr. Emberley is the illustrator and author of over 80 books, including the bestselling Go Away, Big Green Monster! and his enormously popular "Drawing Book" series. He has received many awards and accolades, including a Caldecott Honor in 1967 for One Wide River to Cross and a Caldecott Medal in 1968 for Drummer Hoff

On Wednesday, April 23, Ed Emberley will present his chalk talk at two different sessions.The program at 10 a.m. will be for 4 to 6-year-olds and their caregivers. At 2 p.m. he will offer a program for older children, 7 and up, and adults are welcome to attend.
